NeverWorld Grid — GDPR & Data Transparency
Last updated: July 25, 2026
NeverWorld Grid (“NWG”) respects the privacy of all residents and visitors, including those in the European Union. This page explains what data we collect, how it’s used, and your rights regarding it, along with our approach to AI-content transparency. These are two separate areas of EU law — data protection (GDPR) and AI content transparency (the EU AI Act) — covered together here for convenience.
1. GDPR General Compliance
Who we are
NeverWorld Grid is operated by Neverworld Grid. LLC , based in the United States. NWG is a virtual world platform (OpenSimulator-based) offering account registration, in-world access, a free community Marketplace, blogs, and related services.
What data we collect
Depending on how you use NWG, we may collect:
- Account data: username/avatar name, email address, password (stored hashed), registration date
- In-world data: avatar activity within the grid, such as region visits, inventory transactions, and group memberships, as required for the platform to function
- Communications: chat and instant-message logs may be retained transiently for moderation and abuse-prevention purposes, consistent with standard OpenSimulator platform behavior
- Support/contact data: anything you submit via a support ticket, contact form, or DMCA/abuse report
- Basic hosting logs: standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure for security and troubleshooting
We do not run advertising trackers, third-party analytics (e.g. Google Analytics), or ad-network pixels on the site. The NWG Marketplace is entirely free — no payment or financial data is collected or processed through it.
Why we process this data (legal basis)
We process personal data to:
- Provide and maintain your account and in-world access (contractual necessity / legitimate interest in operating the platform)
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service (legitimate interest)
- Respond to support requests and legal notices such as DMCA claims (legal obligation / legitimate interest)
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. Limited data may be processed by:
- Hosting/infrastructure providers that run the servers NWG operates on (e.g. Interserver, Hetzner), solely to deliver the service
- Akismet (Automattic) — our anti-spam filter, which checks comment and form submissions against its spam-detection service
- PostSMTP — used to deliver account and system emails (e.g. registration confirmations, deletion reminders)
- Loginizer — used for login security (failed-login monitoring, brute-force protection); processes login attempt data for security purposes only
- PayPal — used to process payment when a resident purchases land/parcels on NWG. PayPal handles the payment transaction directly; NWG does not store your payment card or PayPal account details
- Third parties where required by law (e.g. responding to a valid legal request)
Our public Marketplace items are free of charge and involve no payment processing. Land/parcel purchases are the only transactions on NWG that involve a payment processor (PayPal).
We use a simple math-problem CAPTCHA on forms, which does not rely on an external CAPTCHA service.
Data retention
We retain account and in-world data for as long as your account remains active, plus a reasonable period after account closure for security, dispute-resolution, and record-keeping purposes. Hosting logs are retained only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting before being rotated out.
Your rights
If you are located in the EU/EEA (or wherever applicable privacy law grants these rights), you may request to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at neverworldgrid@gmail.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 30 days.
How to delete your account
To request full deletion of your account and data, email neverworldgrid@gmail.com and ask us to delete your account. Here’s what happens next:
- We confirm your request and begin a 14-day waiting period, giving you time to change your mind or retrieve anything you need first.
- On day 13, you’ll receive a reminder email that your account is scheduled for permanent deletion the following day.
- On day 14, your account is permanently deleted, including:
- Your account and profile data
- Your avatar within OpenSimulator
- Your inventory and objects
- Any parcel content you own
This deletion is permanent and cannot be undone once completed.
Cookies
NWG’s website uses only the cookies strictly necessary for the site to function (e.g. login sessions, shopping cart state for free Marketplace items). We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Changes to this page
We may update this page as our practices or applicable law change. Material changes will be noted with a revised “Last updated” date above.

2. NWG AI-Assisted Content Transparency
NWG hosts content created by a large and varied community of residents, contributors, vendors, and event organizers. Some of that content — artwork, textures, audio, video, scripts, or other media — may be generated or substantially assisted by artificial intelligence tools. NWG does not review or verify the origin of every item, listing, or post on the platform, and cannot independently confirm what tools were used to create any given piece of content.
This section sets out our general approach to AI-content transparency across the platform, including the Marketplace, blogs, in-world venues, parcels, and events, and reflects our effort to support informed audiences ahead of the EU AI Act’s transparency provisions (Article 50), which apply from August 2, 2026.
Disclosure expectations for creators, vendors, and organizers
If you create or upload AI-generated or substantially AI-assisted content — artwork, textures, audio, video, or other media — for public display, distribution, or sale on NWG, please disclose its AI-generated or AI-assisted nature. This disclosure can appear in:
- The item or listing description (Marketplace)
- Vendor information
- Blog post or article text
- Exhibition or event details
- Parcel or region descriptions
- Project documentation
Venues and events
This expectation extends to venues and events that regularly present, stream, exhibit, or promote AI-generated or AI-assisted content. If you own or operate such a venue, or organize such an event, please provide a clearly visible notice — for example on a display board, venue info panel, parcel description, or event listing — rather than relying solely on metadata embedded in an individual asset, which is often stripped or lost when content changes hands or is displayed elsewhere.
Where human creators use AI-assisted tools under substantial creative direction, that can be stated plainly, for example:
“Produced by human creators using AI-assisted production tools under detailed human creative direction.”
What NWG does and doesn’t do
NWG does not audit individual items, posts, or listings for AI content, and does not claim to know the origin of every piece of content on the platform. This section places the disclosure obligation on the creator, vendor, or organizer — not on NWG staff. Where a resident or visitor reports undisclosed AI content, NWG may ask the relevant party to add a disclosure, but does not guarantee proactive detection or removal.
Questions
If you’re not sure how or where to disclose AI involvement in your work or venue, contact NWG Discord.
This page is a general platform notice and is not a substitute for legal advice. NWG is not a law firm, and residents or vendors with specific compliance questions should consult their own legal counsel.
