1. Introduction

Welcome to GateCrashers — the premier event listing service for the OpenSimulator virtual world community and the broader Hypergrid. Whether you are a venue owner looking to promote your events, a performer seeking a wider audience, or a visitor looking for something fun to do in-world, GateCrashers has you covered.

 

What is GateCrashers?

GateCrashers is a web-based platform at gatecrashers.events that connects event organizers with attendees across the OpenSimulator Hypergrid. It provides:

  • •A public event listing directory covering all grids 

  • •In-world Gate devices that display your venue events on a screen 

  • •The GateCrashers Event Broadcaster (GEB) — a large display board showing all Hypergrid events 

  • •A wearable HUD for browsing events from anywhere in-world 

  • •Calendar integration, iCal export, and Hypergrid teleport links 

 

Grid Time (SLT)

All times on GateCrashers are displayed in Grid Time (SLT) — Pacific Time (America/Los_Angeles). This is the universal standard for OpenSimulator events across all grids.

⚠️ Important: Always enter event times in SLT. The platform converts and stores them correctly regardless of your local timezone.

2. Getting Started

Creating Your Account

Visit gatecrashers.events and click Sign Up Free to create your account.

  1. 1.Enter your display name, email address, and password 

  2. 2.Click Continue to proceed through account setup 

  3. 3.If you are a Neverworld Grid resident, enter your avatar name for NWG verification 

  4. 4.NWG verified residents automatically receive the NWG Free tier at no charge

Logging In

Visit gatecrashers.events and click Log In. Enter your email and password. If you forget your password, use the password reset link on the login page.


3. Your Dashboard

After logging in, you are taken to your Dashboard at gatecrashers.events/dashboard. This is your control center for managing all of your GateCrashers activity.

 

Dashboard Overview

  • •Gates counter — shows how many Gates you have registered vs your tier limit 

  • •Events counter — shows how many events you have listed vs your tier limit 

  • •Tier badge — shows your current subscription tier 

  • •NWG Verified badge — shown if your avatar is verified 

 

My Gates

The left column of your dashboard shows all of your registered Gate venues. Each Gate card shows the venue name, region, online/offline status, and event count. Click any Gate to view its detail page.

 

My Events

The right column shows all of your upcoming events. Each event card shows the title, category, time, and like count. Click Edit to modify an event.

 

Dashboard Navigation

The user menu (click your name in the top right) provides quick access to:

4. Gates (Venues)

A Gate is your venue’s presence on GateCrashers. Each Gate gets a public venue page, an API key for your in-world Gate device, and a listing in the Venues directory.

 

Registering a Gate

  1. 5.From your Dashboard, click + Add Gate 

  2. 6.Enter your venue name, description, and upload a venue photo 

  3. 7.Enter your Grid Name (e.g. Neverworld Grid) 

  4. 8.Enter your Grid URL (e.g. hg.neverworldgrid.com:8002) 

  5. 9.Enter your Region Name 

  6. 10.Enter your Hop URL (e.g. hop://hg.neverworldgrid.com:8002/MyRegion/128/128/25) 

  7. 11.Click Register Gate 

💡 Tip: Your Gate Key is automatically generated. You will need this to configure your in-world Gate device.

 

Gate Detail Page

Each Gate has a public detail page at gatecrashers.events/venues/your-gate-slug. This page shows:

  • •Venue photo and description 

  • •Online/offline status (updated by your in-world Gate device) 

  • •Upcoming events at this venue 

  • •Copy Hop URL button for easy teleporting 

  • •Bookmark button for visitors 

 

Gate Settings

From your Gate detail page, click the Settings tab to:

  • •Edit venue details (name, description, photo, hop URL) 

  • •View your Gate Key 

  • •Manage collaborators 

 

Gate Collaborators

You can invite other GateCrashers users to help manage your Gate. Collaborators can post events on behalf of your venue.

  1. 12.Go to your Gate detail page and click the Collaborators tab 

  2. 13.Enter the avatar name of the person you want to invite 

  3. 14.Choose their role: Poster (can post events) or Manager (full access) 

  4. 15.Click Invite 

The invited user will see a notification on their Dashboard. All events posted by collaborators count against the Gate owner’s event quota.

📝 Note: Collaborator limits: Basic tier = 2 per Gate, Advanced = 5 per Gate


5. Installing the Gate Device In-World

The Gate device is a free in-world object that brings GateCrashers to life at your venue. It displays upcoming events on a screen, shows live avatar counts, and lets visitors teleport directly to any listed event.

 

Getting the Gate Device

Pick up the free Gate device package at the NWG Welcome Region or the NW Marketplace on Neverworld Grid. The package includes:

  • •Gate device (multiple design variants) 

  • •GateCrashers Event Broadcaster (GEB) board 

  • •Updater Box 

  • •This instruction manual 

 

Setting Up Your Gate

  1. 16.Rez the Gate device at your venue — near the entrance works great 

  2. 17.Touch the Gate to open the menu 

  3. 18.Select Settings from the menu 

  4. 19.Select Enter Key from the Settings menu 

  5. 20.A text box will appear — paste your Gate Key from your GateCrashers dashboard and click Submit 

  6. 21.The Gate will connect to GateCrashers and display ONLINE 

💡 Tip: Your Gate Key can be found on your Gate’s Settings tab at gatecrashers.events/dashboard

 

Avatar Count Modes

The Gate device counts avatars at your venue and reports this to GateCrashers, powering the Hottest Right Now feature on the homepage. You can choose how avatars are counted:

 

Count Modes

Parcel Mode (Default) — Counts only avatars on the same parcel as your Gate device. Recommended for most venues.

Proximity Mode — Counts avatars within a set radius (25m, 50m, or 100m) of the Gate device. Use this if your venue is not on a separate parcel.

 

To change the count mode:

  1. 22.Touch the Gate to open the menu 

  2. 23.Select Settings 

  3. 24.Select Count Mode 

  4. 25.Choose Parcel or Proximity 

  5. 26.If Proximity, select your preferred radius (25m, 50m, or 100m) 

📝 Note: NPC avatars (scripted characters) are automatically excluded from the count.

 

Gate Display

The Gate screen shows two sections:

  • •VENUE EVENTS — Upcoming events at your specific venue 

  • •GATECRASHERS — Global upcoming events from across the Hypergrid 

Visitors can touch the Gate to open a menu with options to view event details, teleport to events, and refresh the display.

 

Gate Permissions

⚠️ Important: Your Gate device must be set to EXPORTABLE for Hypergrid visitors to interact with it. Right-click the Gate, select Edit, go to the General tab, and check the Export checkbox.


6. Posting Events

Events are the heart of GateCrashers. Every event gets a public detail page with your flyer image, description, and a Hop URL for in-world teleporting.

 

Creating an Event

  1. 27.From your Dashboard, click + Post First Event or go to gatecrashers.events/dashboard/events/new 

  2. 28.Upload your event flyer image (required — no blank listings!) 

  3. 29.Enter the event title 

  4. 30.Enter a description 

  5. 31.Select a category (DJ Set, Live Music, Dance, Social, Roleplay, etc.) 

  6. 32.Select your venue Gate (or enter location manually) 

  7. 33.Enter the date and time in SLT (Pacific Time) 

  8. 34.Click Publish Event 

💡 Tip: Connect your event to a Gate for the best experience — it will appear on your venue page and in the Gate device display.

Recurring Events

Recurring events are a powerful feature that automatically calculates the next occurrence and displays it across the platform.

  1. 35.Check the Recurring Event box when creating your event 

  2. 36.Select your recurrence pattern: 

  • •Daily 

  • •Weekly 

  • •Bi-Weekly (twice per week) 

  • •Bi-Monthly (every two weeks) 

  • •Monthly 

📝 Note: Set the start date and time to the FIRST occurrence of your event. GateCrashers will automatically calculate all future occurrences.

⚠️ Important: Always enter times in SLT. The platform converts them correctly regardless of your local timezone or browser settings.

 

Featured Events

Featured events appear at the top of event listings and on the GEB board with a star marker. Featured status can be assigned by:

  • •NWG Free tier — Up to 2 featured events 

  • •Basic tier — 1 featured venue + 1 featured event 

  • •Advanced tier — 3 featured venues + 3 featured events 

  • •Admins can feature any event at will 

 

Editing Events

To edit an event, go to your Dashboard, find the event in My Events, and click Edit. All fields can be updated including the date and time.

 

Event Visibility Windows

Events are shown in different time windows depending on where they appear:

  • •Homepage & GEB Board — Events within the next 14 days 

  • •Gate device — Events within the next 30 days 

  • •Venue detail page — Events within the next 90 days 

  • •Calendar — All recurring occurrences within 90 days 


7. The GateCrashers Event Broadcaster (GEB)

The GateCrashers Event Broadcaster is a large landscape display board (3m tall x 5m wide) that shows upcoming events from across the entire Hypergrid. It updates automatically every 15 minutes.

 

Getting Your GEB Board

The GEB board is included in the free starter package at NWG Welcome Region.

 

Setting Up Your GEB — Public Mode

Anyone can operate a GEB board showing all global events using the free Public Key.

  1. 37.Get your Public GEB Key from the How It Works page at gatecrashers.events/how-it-works 

  2. 38.Rez your GEB board in-world 

  3. 39.Touch the board to open the menu 

  4. 40.Select Settings 

  5. 41.Select Enter Key 

  6. 42.Paste your Public GEB Key and click Submit 

The board will connect and begin displaying all upcoming Hypergrid events.

 

GEB — Advanced Mode (Grid-Concentric)

Advanced tier subscribers can generate a private GEB Key that displays their grid’s events at the TOP of the board, followed by all global events below — separated by a divider line.

  1. 43.Log into your GateCrashers dashboard 

  2. 44.Click your name and select My GEB Keys 

  3. 45.Click Generate New GEB Key 

  4. 46.Enter your Grid Name and Grid URL 

  5. 47.Copy your new private key 

  6. 48.Enter it into your GEB board via Settings > Enter Key 

💡 Tip: Advanced mode is a great incentive to get your grid’s community to post events on GateCrashers — their events will appear highlighted at the top of every GEB board configured with your grid’s key.

 

GEB Touch Menu

  • •Next Page / Prev Page — Navigate through event pages 

  • •Refresh — Manually refresh the event data 

  • •About — Information about GateCrashers 

  • •Settings (owner only) — Enter Key, Clear Key 

 

GEB Display Layout

The GEB board uses a two-column landscape layout showing 10 events per page:

  • •Left column: events 1-5 

  • •Right column: events 6-10 

  • •Category color coding (Magenta=DJ Set, Green=Live Music, Cyan=Dance, Gold=Social, etc.) 

  • •Featured events marked with * and shown first 

  • •In Advanced mode, grid events shown in Light Cyan with a separator line 

⚠️ Important: Your GEB board must be set to EXPORTABLE for Hypergrid visitors to interact with it.


8. The GateCrashers HUD

The GateCrashers HUD is a wearable heads-up display that lets you browse upcoming Hypergrid events from anywhere in-world without having to visit a Gate or GEB board.

 

Getting the HUD

The HUD is included in the free starter package at NWG Welcome Region.

 

Wearing the HUD

  1. 49.Find the GateCrashers HUD in your inventory 

  2. 50.Right-click it and select Wear or Add 

  3. 51.The HUD will appear on your screen and automatically load upcoming events 

 

Using the HUD

  • •Click the GateCrashers logo prim to toggle the HUD open or closed 

  • •Click the Events panel to flip through event pages 

  • •Click the Control panel to open the control menu 

  • •Click the Account panel to open your GateCrashers dashboard in your browser 

HUD Control Menu

  • •Next Page — Go to the next page of events 

  • •All Events — Show all categories 

  • •DJ Set / Live Music / Dance / Social — Filter by category 

  • •Teleport — Select an event to teleport to directly 

  • •Refresh — Reload the event list 

  • •Close — Close the menu 

 

HUD Updates

When a new version of the HUD is available, you will receive an in-world notification. To update your HUD, pick up the new HUD from the latest starter package at NWG Welcome Region and wear the new version.


9. The Updater Box

The Updater Box is a tool for updating Gate devices that are located on grids other than Neverworld Grid, or for updating your wearable HUD.

 

Who Needs the Updater Box?

  • •Gate owners on grids OTHER than Neverworld Grid — NWG Gates update automatically 

  • •HUD owners — HUDs cannot be updated remotely while worn 

📝 Note: Neverworld Grid Gate devices are updated automatically by the GateCrashers Update Server. No action required for NWG venue owners.

 

Using the Updater Box

  1. 52.Pick up the Updater Box from the latest starter package at NWG Welcome Region 

  2. 53.Rez the Updater Box within 30 meters of your Gate device (or detach your HUD and rez it nearby) 

  3. 54.Touch the Updater Box 

  4. 55.It will scan for nearby GateCrashers devices you own 

  5. 56.A dialog will show the found devices — click Update All to proceed 

  6. 57.The Updater Box will deliver the new scripts and then delete itself 

⚠️ Important: Each Updater Box is version-specific. Get a new one from NWG Welcome with each major release.

💡 Tip: Keep a copy of the Updater Box in your inventory before it deletes itself — or just pick up a fresh one from NWG Welcome next time.


10. Discovering Events

Homepage

The GateCrashers homepage at gatecrashers.events shows upcoming events within the next 14 days. Featured events appear first, followed by chronological listings. The Hottest Right Now sidebar shows venues with the most live avatars right now.

 

Venues & Gates

Browse all registered venues at gatecrashers.events/venues. Filter by grid, search by name, and see which venues are currently online. Each venue page shows upcoming events, a Hop URL, and a bookmark button.

 

Event Calendar

The calendar at gatecrashers.events/calendar shows all events in Daily, Weekly, or Monthly view. All times are displayed in Grid Time (SLT). Click any event to see its full details.

 

Event Detail Pages

Each event has a dedicated page showing:

  • •Event flyer image 

  • •Full description 

  • •Date and time in SLT with countdown 

  • •Region and grid location 

  • •Hop URL for teleporting in-world 

  • •Like button 

  • •Share buttons (Facebook, X, Pinterest, Discord, OpenSimWorld, Copy Link) 

  • •View calendar link 


11. Likes & Bookmarks

Liking Events

You can like any event by clicking the heart button on the event detail page. You must be logged in to like events. Each user can like each event once. Like counts are shown on event cards and detail pages.

 

Bookmarking Venues

You can bookmark venues to save them for easy access. Click the Bookmark Venue button on any venue detail page. View all your bookmarked venues at gatecrashers.events/dashboard/bookmarks.

Your bookmarks page shows each saved venue with its current online status and a Copy Hop URL button.


12. Advertising on GateCrashers

GateCrashers offers affordable ad placements that appear across all pages — the Homepage, Venues page, and Calendar. Ads rotate fairly among all active advertisers.

Creating an Ad

  1. 58.Go to gatecrashers.events/dashboard/ads and click + Create Ad 

  2. 59.Upload your ad image (recommended: 800x450px or 1600x900px, max 5MB) 

  3. 60.Enter your ad title and optional tagline 

  4. 61.Enter the destination URL 

  5. 62.Select your duration (7, 30, or 90 days) 

  6. 63.Click Save Ad & Continue to Payment 

  7. 64.Complete payment via PayPal 

All ads are reviewed by an admin before going live — usually within 24 hours.

⚠️ Important: No adult content, no scams, no competitor platforms. We reserve the right to reject any ad.


13. Subscriptions & Tiers

Upgrading Your Tier

  1. 65.Go to gatecrashers.events/pricing 

  2. 66.Choose Basic ($5/month) or Advanced ($10/month) 

  3. 67.Click the Subscribe button — you must be logged in 

  4. 68.Complete payment via PayPal 

  5. 69.Your tier upgrades immediately after payment 

 

Cancelling Your Subscription

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your PayPal account. Your access to paid features continues until the end of the current billing period.

 

NWG Free Tier

Neverworld Grid residents get the NWG Free tier at no charge. To claim it:

  1. 70.Register at gatecrashers.events 

  2. 71.Enter your NWG avatar name during signup 

  3. 72.Your avatar is verified against the Neverworld Grid database 

  4. 73.NWG Free tier is applied automatically upon verification 


14. Sharing Events

Every event and venue page has a Share button that makes it easy to spread the word across social media and the OpenSim community.

 

Share Button

Click the Share button on any event or venue page to open the sharing menu:

  • •Facebook — Share with a preview card showing your event flyer 

  • •X / Twitter — Tweet with title and link 

  • •Pinterest — Pin with your event flyer image 

  • •Discord — Copies the link (Discord auto-generates a beautiful preview card using your event flyer) 

  • •OpenSimWorld — Opens opensimworld.com/events for manual submission 

  • •Copy Link — Copies the direct URL to your clipboard 

💡 Tip: Discord and Facebook automatically display your event flyer as a large preview image when you share a GateCrashers link, thanks to Open Graph tags. Make sure your event flyer is high quality for the best impression!


15. Hypergrid Integration

GateCrashers provides several data feeds for integration with other platforms and in-world tools.

iCal / Google Calendar

  1. 74.Copy the iCal feed URL: gatecrashers.events/api/events.ics 

  2. 75.In Google Calendar, click + Other Calendars > From URL 

  3. 76.Paste the URL and click Add Calendar 

  4. 77.GateCrashers events will appear in your calendar and update automatically 

 

In-World 2do Boards

Copy the LSL2 feed URL and configure your 2do board to fetch from gatecrashers.events/api/events.lsl2


16. Account Settings

Your Profile

Access your profile at gatecrashers.events/dashboard/profile to:

  • •Update your display name 

  • •Upload a profile avatar image 

  • •View your NWG verification status 

  • •See your current tier 

 

Changing Your Password

Go to gatecrashers.events/dashboard/settings and use the Change Password form. Enter your current password, then your new password (minimum 8 characters), and confirm.

 

Account Deletion

To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at neverworldgrid@gmail.com. Account deletion is processed within 14 days per our data policy.


17. Terms & Data

The full Terms & Conditions are available at gatecrashers.events/terms. Key points:

 

What We Collect

  • •Account data — display name, email, optional avatar name/UUID 

  • •Event and venue data — content you submit including images 

  • •Usage data — page views, clicks, and ad impressions for analytics 

  • •Gate device data — avatar counts and heartbeat timestamps (no personal visitor data) 

What We Don’t Do

  • •We do not sell your personal data to third parties 

  • •We do not serve third-party advertising (our ads are sold directly) 

  • •Gate devices do not collect personally identifiable information about region visitors 

 

Payment Security

All payments are processed by PayPal. GateCrashers never stores your payment card details.


18. Troubleshooting & FAQ

Gate Device Issues

My Gate shows OFFLINE

The Gate device sends a heartbeat every 5 minutes. If it shows offline, check:

  • •Is the Gate device rezzed and running scripts? 

  • •Is your Gate Key entered correctly? (Touch > Settings > Enter Key) 

  • •Is your region’s HTTP connectivity working? 

My Gate shows ONLINE but no avatar count

Check your Count Mode setting (Touch > Settings > Count Mode). If using Parcel mode, make sure the Gate is on your parcel. If using Proximity mode, try increasing the radius.

My venue events are not showing on the Gate

Make sure your events are linked to this Gate when creating them (select your Gate in the Venue Gate dropdown). Also ensure the events are approved and active.

 

Event Issues

My event shows the wrong time

Always enter event times in SLT (Pacific Time). The platform converts them correctly. Do not rely on your browser’s local time — enter the SLT time directly.

My recurring event is not showing as upcoming

GateCrashers calculates the next occurrence automatically. If today’s occurrence just ended, the next one will appear within a few minutes as the system updates.

My event is not appearing on the homepage

The homepage shows events within the next 14 days. Events further out appear on the Calendar and venue pages (90-day window).

 

GEB Board Issues

GEB shows NOT CONFIGURED

The GEB board requires a key to operate. Touch the board, go to Settings > Enter Key, and paste either the Public GEB Key from the How It Works page, or your private key from your dashboard.

GEB shows Loading PayPal or an error

This is unrelated to the GEB — PayPal buttons appear elsewhere. If your GEB board is stuck, touch it and select Refresh from the menu.

 

Account Issues

I forgot my password

Use the Forgot Password link on the login page. A reset email will be sent to your registered email address.

My NWG avatar verification failed

Make sure you enter your avatar name exactly as it appears in Neverworld Grid (case-sensitive). If verification continues to fail, contact support at gundaharbravin@gmail.com.
