A Guide for Region Owners & Residents
What is ORBIT?
ORBIT is Neverworld Grid’s official Region Management Dashboard — a convenient, web-based tool that puts powerful region management features right at your fingertips, accessible from any device with a browser.
With ORBIT, region owners can:
•Request and download backups of their region (OAR files) for safekeeping
•Upload a previously saved OAR file and restore it directly to their region
•Monitor the online status of their region in real time
•Request a region restart when needed
Administrators can also use ORBIT to oversee all regions on the grid, manage user accounts, and review a complete audit trail of all actions taken through the system.
Getting Started — Creating Your Account
Signing up for ORBIT is quick and easy. You will need your Neverworld Grid avatar name and your in-world grid password to complete registration.
Step-by-Step Sign-Up Instructions
1.Open your browser and go to: panel.neverworldgrid.com
2.Click the Sign In link, then look for the registration option to request access.
3.Enter your Avatar First Name and Avatar Last Name exactly as they appear on the Neverworld Grid.
4.Enter your Grid Password — this is the same password you use to log into the grid in-world with Firestorm or your preferred viewer.
5.Choose a Dashboard Username and a Dashboard Password for logging into ORBIT. Your Dashboard Password can be different from your grid password.
6.Check the box confirming you agree to the Terms of Service.
7.Click Verify Avatar & Create Account.
|
⚠ Your grid password is used only to verify that you are the owner of the avatar you are registering with. It is never stored by ORBIT. |
|
What Happens After You Sign Up? |
|
If your avatar owns estates on the Neverworld Grid, you will automatically be granted Region Owner access. |
|
If your avatar does not own estates, your account will be reviewed and approved by a Neverworld Grid administrator. |
|
Once approved, log in at panel.neverworldgrid.com using your chosen Dashboard Username and Password. |
OAR Downloads — Backing Up Your Region
An OAR (OpenSim Archive) file is a complete backup of your region — every object, texture, script, terrain, and setting. Downloading your OAR gives you a personal copy of your region you can store safely on your own computer.
How to Request an OAR Download
8.Log in to ORBIT at panel.neverworldgrid.com
9.Click OAR Downloads in the top navigation bar.
10.In the Request OAR Backup section, start typing your region name in the search box.
11.Select your region from the dropdown list that appears.
12.Click the Create OAR button.
13.ORBIT will begin preparing your backup. This may take several minutes depending on the size of your region.
14.Once ready, your OAR file will appear in the Available Downloads section with a glowing Download button.
15.Click Download to save the file to your computer.
OAR Download Limits & Rules
|
Download Expiry |
Available for 24 hours after creation. After that, the file is automatically deleted from our server. |
|
File Size |
No size limit — your OAR will be whatever size your region currently is. |
|
After Download |
The file is removed from our server immediately after a successful download to free up space. |
|
One at a Time |
You may have one active download per region at a time. |
|
⚠ OAR files can be very large — some regions exceed several gigabytes. Make sure you have sufficient space on your computer before downloading. |
OAR Uploads — Restoring Content to Your Region
The OAR Uploads feature allows you to upload an OAR file from your computer and load it directly into your region on the Neverworld Grid. This is perfect for:
•Restoring a previously downloaded region backup
•Moving content from another grid to Neverworld Grid
•Starting fresh with a new pre-built region layout
How to Upload and Load an OAR
16.Log in to ORBIT at panel.neverworldgrid.com
17.Click OAR Uploads in the top navigation bar.
18.In the Upload OAR File section, search for and select your region from the dropdown.
19.Either drag and drop your .oar file into the upload area, or click to browse and select it from your computer.
20.Check the ownership confirmation checkbox (see below).
21.Click Upload OAR. A progress bar will show you the upload status.
22.Once uploaded, your file will appear in the Pending Uploads section.
23.Click the Load into Region button next to your upload.
24.A confirmation dialog will appear. Read it carefully — you will be asked to type your region name to confirm.
25.Click I Understand, Load OAR to proceed.
|
IMPORTANT — Loading an OAR Wipes Your Region! |
|
Loading an OAR file will PERMANENTLY REPLACE all current content in your region. |
|
Every object, texture, terrain, and script currently in your region will be removed and replaced with the contents of the OAR file. |
|
This action cannot be undone. Please make sure you have a current backup before loading a new OAR. |
Ownership Confirmation
Before uploading, you must check the box confirming:
•You own the content in the OAR file, OR
•You have explicit permission from the content creator to use it on the Neverworld Grid.
Uploading content that you do not own or do not have permission to use is a violation of Neverworld Grid’s Terms of Service.
