Not anymore. Enter Our Bountiful Continent V2, a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity. This ambitious project is the culmination of years of diligent work and cooperation among some of OpenSim’s most talented builders. Their vision was clear: to link large 4×4 regions together into a seamless, harmonious landscape.

A Journey Across the Continent

Our Bountiful Continent V2 now boasts an intricate road system that stretches from the northern reaches of Cloudburst to the sunny shores of Key West. Along the way, travelers encounter hundreds of side roads, twists, turns, and bridges, each crafted with care and precision. These roads facilitate exploration, connection, and community, transforming what was once a disparate collection of regions into a thriving virtual continent.

The Thrill of Discovery

For first-time users, the experience is nothing short of exhilarating. The words “thrilling” and “impressive” frequently escape the lips of newcomers as they navigate the vast network of roads, discovering hidden gems and breathtaking vistas at every turn. The continent invites exploration and fosters a sense of belonging, proving that when creativity and collaboration intersect, magic happens.

In this new era of OpenSim, our Bountiful Continent V2 stands as a beacon of what is possible when visionaries come together to transform chaos into community.

I don’t want to take credit for the idea. Gemmalynn came up with the Christmas in July theme, and in RL, I know she is dressing (briefly at least) in warm woolies and snuggly hats and dreaming of tinsel and xmas trees.

Here? Well, sort of! If you visit Gemm’s sim Cindermoon Shire, you will for sure see some Christmas trees up year-round, cause let’s face it, why not? Xmas is the funnest holiday there is, maybe. Well, maybe Halloween, but that’s soon ….

As we wiped the sweat off our virtual brows, we decided to do a Christmas in July Never Riders ride. We were advised to dress warm. I had a parka, trapper’s hat, and snow boots on. Whew!

We rode from Cloudburst Roads to Snow Lands. Virtually, this was TOTALLY across the continent. It took a full half hour even knowing the roads, and it would be much longer if I didn’t take the freeway.

Be advised- unless you have a GREAT sense of direction, use your map, and I also use a compass that sits semi-transparently on my head, letting me know the direction I am going. So anyway, you know, basically we were going North west! all the way baby!

And there we ended up in Lost Notch Ski Village, dusted with beautiful snow and snowy trees and buildings. We tested the ski jump.

Luckily, Josh skied the whole way over so he was prepared. Yes, it is still working. Want to defy death? Go through the ski lodge out the back doors, and there is a handy teleport up to the ski jump. Defy death! It is fun!

After the long ride, defying death on the jump and dodging snowflakes, it was time to relax in the lodge with a small dance area with our fellow Never Riders as we listened to Christmas songs.
